Smith After School

Smith After School, SAS, is Sarah Smith’s very own after school program.  We are a Nationally Accredited program through the Council of Accreditation.  SAS focuses on the whole child, offering choices and developing responsibility as young individuals.

Students are grouped by grade and have the same SAS teacher daily.  Our teachers are well-trained and certified.  The standards and expectations of the SmithAfter School Teachers are set extremely high and thus they are held accountable for offering nothing but quality to all of the SAS students and families on a daily basis.

A typical day;

Snack and social time-

When students arrive at SAS, they are provided with a variety of healthy snacks to choose from.  During this time they are encouraged to develop friendships through conversation and play.

Outside play-

Students have the opportunity to continue to build friendships as they move to the outside play and free time.

Academic and homework time-

Homework assistance and guidance is offered during our academic block. Once homework is concluded, students can choose from a variety of academic based centers that reinforce the skills being taught in the regular school day.

Enrichment activity time

Our activity block is a favorite among our students.  The children are presented with a minimum of six activities, ranging from cooking, arts and crafts, creative building, science experiments, teacher-led games, music and drama, and sports.  With student input, our teachers work diligently to prepare thematic activities that are meaningful, engaging, and fun.

Many of our students choose to be picked up towards the end of our program day to ensure that they can participate in all that our program has to offer.  Often of our parents are greeted by their child with, “I don’t want to go yet!”  As a childcare provider, this is music to our ears!
